What to Expect After Your Initial Visit
HooverClinics.com
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your recovery journey. We understand that starting treatment is a significant step, and we are committed to providing structured, safe, and supportive care every step of the way. Our goal is to help you achieve stability, regain control, and build a foundation for long-term success through consistent, evidence-based treatment.
After your first appointment, the next steps are designed to keep your treatment on track and make follow-up care as smooth and predictable as possible.
Our Focus on Care
Our clinic specializes in Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). We focus specifically on treating opioid dependence using evidence-based medications and structured follow-up care. We do NOT provide primary care or manage general medical conditions (such as blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, or other routine health issues). We strongly encourage all patients to establish and maintain care with a primary care provider (PCP) for their overall health needs. We are happy to coordinate care with your PCP when appropriate.
Pharmacy Notification
Please notify our office manager, Lainey, immediately after receiving your prescription and let us know which pharmacy you used. This ensures your chart is updated accurately for future prescriptions and visits.
Pharmacy Changes
To ensure consistency and avoid delays in treatment, we ask that patients use the same pharmacy whenever possible.
If at any time you need your prescription sent to a different pharmacy, a paper prescription will be required. This is due to variability in medication availability and pharmacy processing.
Please notify our office in advance if you anticipate needing to change pharmacies so we can help coordinate this appropriately and avoid interruptions in your treatment.
1-Week Follow-Up
You will have a follow-up appointment within one week (unless directed otherwise). A pre-visit form must be completed at least 24 hours prior to this appointment.
All initial intake appointments are conducted in-office.
Your 1-week follow-up will be scheduled based on our preset clinic schedule:
- If the clinic is in an in-office week, your follow-up will be in-office
- If the clinic is in a telemedicine week, your follow-up will be completed by telemedicine
Hybrid Schedule (Ongoing Care)
After your 1-week follow-up, you will continue on our preset hybrid schedule designed to provide consistent, structured care.
Your appointments will follow this pattern every 28 days:
- In-office visit
- Telemedicine visit
- Telemedicine visit
This cycle then repeats.
To make scheduling simple and predictable:
- Your appointments will stay on the same day of the week
- Your appointments will stay at the same time
This consistency helps reduce missed appointments and keeps your treatment on track.
Laboratory Testing
As part of your initial evaluation, our providers will order a CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel). This lab test allows us to check your baseline liver function, including liver enzyme levels.
The medication used in MOUD is processed (metabolized) by the liver, so it is important for us to ensure that this treatment is safe and appropriate for you before and during therapy.
If you have had a CMP completed within the past year, please let our office know so we can review those results.
We ask that this lab be completed prior to your initial one-month follow-up appointment.
If there are additional labs you would like to have completed, please let our office staff know. Your provider will review your request and determine if additional testing is appropriate.
Ongoing Monthly Visits
Your first regularly scheduled appointment will typically occur about 28 days after your initial visit. Appointments will follow the hybrid schedule outlined above.
Telemedicine Requirements
Telemedicine visits can only be conducted while you are physically located in the state of Mississippi.
Do not attempt to complete a telemedicine visit if you are outside of Mississippi. If you are out of state, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.
Because MOUD medications are controlled substances, we are required to follow strict state and federal regulations. Your location may be verified at the time of your visit to ensure compliance with these requirements.
Prescription Timing & Proration
To keep all patients aligned with our structured schedule, prescriptions are carefully timed to match your next scheduled appointment.
-
Prescriptions are written to last until your next pre-scheduled visit (not based on pickup date)
-
If a prescription is picked up late, the remaining supply will not be extended
-
If an appointment is rescheduled, your prescription quantity may be adjusted (prorated)
-
Prorated prescriptions are designed to provide enough medication to safely reach your next scheduled appointment
This approach helps maintain consistency, safety, and accountability across the program.
